Jason Shutt - February 2018

"I just wanted to say a quick thankyou to all the team but in particular to the Gents who did the move. They were the most proficient team I've ever seen work and considering I've moved 17 times in the last 20 years then that stands for something. Added to that, my 6 year old who wanted to be an astronaut was in awe and now wants to be into removals!!! "

Paul Greenland - January 2018

"I would like to thank you and your men for making my motherís move so smooth. The men doing the job were cheerful efficient and courteous and you should be proud of them "

Barrie & Janet Allsop - December 2017

"All went well with our move from Chelmsford to Bracklesham, the boys were great as I am sure you will already have been told. Please pass on our thanks to all your colleagues for their patient and meticulous work."

Tom Sanderson - December 2017

"We were very impressed with the service we received from Weston and Edwards from the initial quotation which was professionally done, to the collection of our furniture which went into store for a month. We then arranged delivery to our new home which was on a day to suit us. Sadly that day was the Monday after two days of heavy snow in the Midlands. The drivers still managed to get to us in good time and safely off loaded our possessions despite six inches of snow on the ground. Every care was taken with our new carpets and hard floors and the guys completed the job professionally and cheerfully. We would happily recommend Weston and Edwards."

It's the most wonderful time of the year..... to move house!

Why do people do it at this time of the year? I'm always surprised when someone asks to book 23rd December! Just 2 days before Christmas, no time to settle into your new home!

So, if you are moving this time of year, check out our helpful tips!

1. PLAN AHEAD

Confirm your move date in ADVANCE so you have a realistic goal. DON'T leave it until the last minute. Aim to move before 24th December!

2. BOOK YOUR REMOVALS COMPANY

Get a quote so you can book your preferred moving day. This will also give you an incentive to HAVE EVERYTHING READY.

3. PREPARE FOR THE WORST

Expect there to be snow. Have salt ready for the path & driveways.

4. ORGANISE YOUR PACKING

Start early, 2 weeks before, make sure your boxes are labelled correctly and pack your CHRISTMAS items so your can DECORATE your new home.

5. CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

It's time to get organised....!

Plan your shopping early to ease your workload ready for the move.

6. BILLS, BILLS, BILLS!

To avoid a Christmas without electricity, inform your UTILITY COMPANIES you are moving and when!

7. CHILDREN & PETS

Keep pets safe and secure in a separate room.

It is best to see if family or friends can entertain your children for the day so they DO NOT GET ANXIOUS about leaving their home...

8. KEEP VALUABLES SAFE

One of the biggest worries over the move is the safety of your valuables like important documents, jewellery and sentimental possessions. Christmas gifts also need to be kept safe, in a labelled box.

9. CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Make sure you send out the new information to family and friends as early as possible..... especially if you want to receive their Christmas Cards!

10. INFO FOR NEW HOMEOWNERS

Leave a few simple instruction s to the new owners of your house with info about bin day, recycling collections, instructions how to get the boiler up and running..... this can be done in a Christmas Card!

Top tips when moving house...

1. Get a quotation well in advance. Either complete our quotation form or make an appointment with our removals estimator. Proper planning ensures a smooth and trouble-free move.

2. If you have time, get rid of all your unwanted items and rubbish in advance - it's lovely to move into a new home, without unwanted clutter.

3. Doing your own packing? Anything that will fit into a box should be packed. Other loose items, garden tools for instance, can be taped together. Don't overfill the boxes. It's best to use our cartons as they are tailor-made for the job.

4. Items can be left in drawers if they're not too heavy, and if the drawers are removable (Our chaps can take the drawers out, put the carcass in the truck and replace the drawers to cut down the amount of packing that you have to do)

5. Freezers can usually stay full. Perhaps put the food in bags/baskets, so that if we struggle, we can take the food out prior to loading, and put back in for transit. We are often able to plug in the freezer on an overnight move.

6. Keep all keys (filing cabinets, safe, wardrobes) together in a safe place.

7. Self-assembly furniture is best dismantled before moving.

8. Prepare a survival pack for the things you will need on moving day - toys, kettle, passports and for the first day in your new home ie: bedding. Keep this separately and make sure the removal men know.

9. Let your mover know beforehand if you haven't managed to get your packing done, got rid of stuff or anything else you haven't asked for in your removal quote. That gives us time to make the necessary arrangements.

10. Make sure your removal company is aware of any access difficulties at either property.

11. People to notify of your change of address: Doctors, dentists, banks, Gas, Electricity, Royal Mail, phone company, D.V.L.A (Driving licence), Friends and relatives!

12. Check that we are available before you commit to a moving date.
